You only have to see young children crowd around a petting zoo to know how much they love farm animals. So why not extend that experience at a farm stay?

Barcoos Farmstays Bathurst has interactive farm activities for families of all ages. And you can choose from a range of accommodation, including camping.

Just 10 minutes from Bathurst city centre - and perfect for a weekend escape from Sydney - Barcoos Farmstays provides a 'country cousin' experience where you will be made to feel at home.

Mornings activities usually start at 8.30am and include animal feeding and led pony rides (you can even help brush the ponies too). Afternoon activities usually start around 4pm and includes either a Farm Tour or sulky/wagon rides, plus feeding animals and collecting the eggs.

You can help make the 'porridge' for the pigs, chickens and ducks, which you can spoon-feed to them the next morning. There are usually orphan lambs and sometimes calves to be hand-fed or a cow to be milked.

There are four accommodation options:

Valley View Unit: a self-contained unit that sleeps up to 6 comfortably (but can sleep up to 8 with pull-outs). Light breakfast included.

Hillview Unit: a self-contained unit that sleeps up to 4 comfortably (but can sleep up to 6 with pull-outs). Light breakfast included.

Wardell Farmhouse: a historic, refurbished farm-house (circa 1874), sleeps up to 10 in 4 bedrooms. Fully self-contained and perfect for two families

There are fenced areas for little ones to run around safely. You can bring also your own dog on your Barcoos holiday. And if you don't have a dog, you are welcome to play with our two border collies, who love a game of fetch!

The other accommodation option is the camping area, which has a fully equipped kitchen with a great verandah, two amenities blocks with hot showers and plenty of fresh water.

WIFI is available in the units, and on the verandah of our house for other guests. However, please note that download is limited so we ask that no movies or games are downloaded. Mobile phone reception is available for most carriers.
