Words can't express just how much we enjoyed our first holiday in the Flinders. The accommodation was great and everything was so clean and tidy. The shower, stove/grill/oven and fridge were all easy to use and worked a treat.

The beds were all comfortable and the boys were so excited sleeping on the top bunks. Masters 9 and 7 loved exploring around the cabin, finding lots of bugs, lizards and interesting things.

For Bryan and I, the privacy and the incredible surroundings were the highlight. Beauty everywhere and always something else still to discover.

The Horseshoe Rim Adventure 4WD Track was AMAZING!!! The track itself was fantastic, challenging in parts but so much fun! We saw lots of kangaroos, eagles, bearded dragons, stumpy tails and emus. The wildflowers were super pretty too and the views! We were all amazed at the 360 degree views. I took so many beautiful photos. Jack's Track was fun too and the boys found the early settlers wooden gate hilarious.

If you're looking for somewhere to stay that's off the grid but not too far from Adelaide, then the Horseshoe Rim Wilderness Cabin is it! Ben & Susan are fantastic hosts and we hope to visit again sometime soon.

Kids comments: Masters 9 and 7 rated highly the bunk beds (there are two, so both could sleep on the top bunk). What they enjoyed most was just exploring around the cabin, finding interesting things & just being kids. Not once did the kids say they were bored!

Such a great place to get away from it all - so relaxing and you do everything at your own pace. Great scenery and a fantastic time of year to visit. So green and lush with the crops looking great.

Kids had great fun exploring and bush walking. Played in the creek and found tadpoles. Kids even made their own face paint using different rocks they had found and crushed them up. Great time had by all.

Bonfire was great and marshmallows always go down well. Overall this is a great place to stay with ample room even for large families. I could not recommend it highly enough.

If you want your kids to have a 'real' holiday doing 'real' things, this is the place for you.

By 'real' I mean - making cubbies/forts in the rocks, climbing on the rocks, hiding in and exploring caves, bushwalking, reading books, playing board games, toasting marshmallows on the campfire etc.

There is no TV, DVD player, stereo or the like, so it's getting back to good old fashioned make-your-own fun, which is fantastic.

The location is very peaceful, remote and completely private. There are great 4WD tracks if you have one. If not, you can take some lovely bushwalks.

There is a large dam in front of the cabin, so caution is needed if you have small children.

Horseshoe Rim Wilderness Cabin is thoroughly recommended.

My family of four have travelled to the cabin twice and each time we are totally immersed in the natural beauty, quietness and amazing scenery.

From a privacy point of view, it is second to none. You feel like you have travelled into the back of beyond, but it is only a 30min drive to Quorn if you have forgotten something or just want a meal at the pub.

Packing the car for weekends away can be an issue, but the cabin has everything - and more - than you will ever need, making packing a breeze.

I love to cook while we away, so to have a fully equipped kitchen complete with all the utensils and generous sized cooking equipment was fantastic, saving us from having to drag it all to the cabin. It was all there at our fingertips.

The outdoor camp fire cooking area was also a nice touch, allowing us to cook and relax by the fire with everything we needed close by in the cabin.

I could rave on forever, but in short this is an excellent family property, where you will want for nothing except more time to spend at it.

We can completely recommend it for the family or group who wants to get away from it all to do as much, or as little, as they want, it is all there for them to enjoy……just don't tell too many about it!
